Rope, Grapple System, and New Attacks

I'm back with another update, and this time I'm introducing a new mechanic!

The next addition I would like to showcase with this game is a rope which provides the player with a couple of new abilities and attacks. The first use of the rope is as a grappling hook. The player can attach the rope to various points in the level and grapple to that position. This rope also allows the player to swing around in open air by using a pendulum force. These two features will be used for platforming and traversing throughout the level.

But those won't be the only uses for the rope. After all, the focus of this game will be on combat. I have also added two new types of attacks that make use of the rope. The player can not only attach the rope to various points in the level, but they can also attach the rope onto enemies. As such, when the player grapples towards an enemy, any enemies that are caught in the way will be launched. This option is designed to tackle more enemies than the heavy attack, while also being much faster. The next type of attack that comes with the rope is a trip attack. After the player attaches the rope to an enemy, they can alternatively reel in the rope and trip up an enemy. This will cause the enemy to fall flat on the ground. Tripping is a new type of damage, and will come in handy with a future mechanic that has yet to be introduced.

So, why spend the last couple of months working on a rope? Well, this is related to the direction I would like to be taking this project in. With that being said, I'm going to be taking a break from coding to work on creating some assets for this project to help give it an identity.

This project is still in it's early phase of development, but things are progressing smoothly and I can't wait to show you all the next update! Stay tuned!
